Industrial Galvanisers Carole Park Facility
November 2011 saw the start-up of the Industrial Galvanizers Carole Park facility after a devastating fire during Easter 2011 destroyed the majority of the equipment and process building.
TEG managed the $8m remediation project with a team made up of Industrial Galvanizers personnel and TEG engineers.
The TEG/Ingal integrated team have delivered a high class manufacturing facility in record time. The projects results speak for themselves with start-up a week ahead of schedule despite foundation, structural and weather set-backs and the extensive engineering required due to obsolescence.
The fast track programme commenced with interim project approval in June 2011. After the site was made safe and engineering evaluations completed the structural remediation work soon got underway. Remediation work included underpinning of existing columns, preparing steel surfaces for coatings, replacing all the damaged roof structure and excavation/rebuilding of the compromised internal bund.
The new process equipment was engineered and ordered simultaneously to the remediation works and required both local fabrication of major components and an imported customised system from Europe. The project team was able to successfully pull together the required equipment with sufficient time to install and commission the system effectively which allowed the start-up of the facility 1 week earlier than scheduled with minimal loss of production during the ramp-up phase.
The succsess of the project team’s efforts has been proven by the plant and process continuing to operate at high levels of output for over a year since the plant was re-started.
