Robotic Tray-Filling, Flow-Wrapping, Metal Detection & Checkweighing

Objectives

This biscuit manufacturer produces chocolate biscuits on a 1.2m wide oven and runs at 2000 biscuits per minute. Industry leaders Schubert delivered a 32 head robotic packer capable of filling trays of chocolate biscuits at the required rate. Downstream the system included three high speed flow-wrappers, metal detection and check-weighers. The large range of cases required for production meant that an automatic case packer was not practical and instead a case packing station was developed to efficiently manually pack cases. The total project value was $ 7.0m.

Results

The project was delivered on time, under budget and achieved the required benefits with a high level of client satisfaction. The robotic packing is state of the art and provides Griffins with a hugely reduced labour requirement and reduced manual handling.
